Hello, I'm Ethan
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in New York, United States.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many moves for expatriates, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and different expectations. Normal tasks felt more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Orchard Candle Pilot
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or superficial travel material. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that void by offering practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Represents (And What It Isn’t)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Forward Looking
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep noting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best wishes,
Ethan
